FAQ

What does Rockhouse do?

Rockhouse is a full-service creative production company. We handle every stage of the creative process — from campaign concept and copywriting through field production, photography, 3D animation, original music composition, and post-production. We work with brands that need a campaign to perform, not just look good.

We built our reputation in the outdoor space, working with brands like Orvis, Sitka, Berkley, Cabela’s, YETI, Columbia, Beretta, and Carhartt. We’ve since expanded across sport, alcohol, workwear, automotive, lifestyle, and beyond — including Fortune 500 clients like Thor Industries. The common thread isn’t the category — it’s the level of work required.

Rockhouse has offices in Kansas, Alberta and Nova Scotia.

Small by design. We run a core team of best-in-category specialists — directors, cinematographers, animators, photographers, musicians, writers, and strategists. We scale up for large productions by adding trusted collaborators, but the creative leadership on every project is the same team you’ll meet when you call us. There is no B team.

The clients we do our best work for come to us with a business problem, not a production order. Tell us what you’re trying to accomplish — a product launch, a brand repositioning, a campaign your career depends on — and let us figure out how to make it happen.

Both. We’ve worked as the production partner embedded inside agency engagements, and we work directly with brand marketing teams who want a single creative and production partner from concept through delivery. Either model works — what matters is that the work gets done right.

Rockhouse is a winner of the Golden Moose Award for Best Commercial — Outdoor Channel’s annual award recognizing excellence in outdoor advertising. Our films have screened at the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival. Our work has been featured in People Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, Hypebeast, Strategy Magazine, and Outdoor Life. The Mountain Project named us “the original outdoor filmmaker.”

Yes — and this is one of the things that sets us apart. We’re not a production house that executes someone else’s ideas, and we’re not a strategy shop that hands briefs to a crew. We do both, in-house, with the same team. Campaign language, creative platform, film, photography, animation, design, and music — all under one roof, all led by the same people.

Every project starts with understanding the business objective — not just the deliverable. From there we develop the creative platform, align on it, and move into production. Because our creative and production teams are the same people, there’s no translation loss between concept and execution. The process scales to the project. The standard doesn’t.

Most outdoor production companies are built for one discipline — either strong in the field or strong in strategy, rarely both. Rockhouse does both, in-house, with the same team on every project. We write the campaign, produce the film, photograph the work, animate the technical story, and score the music — all under one roof. Beyond capability, the difference is standard: Rockhouse has produced campaigns for Orvis, Carhartt, Columbia, Berkley, Sitka, Cabela’s, and Thor Industries. That client list is the proof.

If the campaign is high-stakes — a major product launch, a brand repositioning, a hero film that has to carry a season — then yes.  We are not the right call for every project. We’re the right call when the work matters most and the standard is non-negotiable.
